Training and Development Coordinator
Virginia is a clinical psychologist with extensive experience working, developing and nurturing high-performing teams that service the mental health and wellbeing needs of children, young people and their families. This experience includes perinatal mental health, general mental health support to children, adolescents and adults, specialist psychological intervention and assessment for neurodevelopmental disorders, and positive behaviour interventions to promote connected families and resilient individuals. Virginia is committed to strengthening the community and practice of psychology and mental health through the supervision and education of emerging psychologists and allied health professionals. Additionally, she continues to lead and contribute to applied research in the areas of mental health early intervention, specialist assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders, and values-based practice for individuals and organisations. Virginia will apply her passion and expertise in the role of Clinical & Cultural Lead to support the next evolution of Marsden Clinical Psychology’s growth as the community leader in compassionate, holistic, evidence-based mental health services supporting the needs of the Illawarra region.
Education and Qualifications:
Virginia holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Psychology), a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology and Bachelor of Science (Psychology) from the University of Wollongong. She was awarded Dean’s Merits for “Top Marks” in the Diploma of Postgraduate Psychology and the Prize for Clinical Excellence during her first year of PhD studies. Virginia has also completed a Bachelor of Policing from Charles Sturt University, along with a Certificate IV in Project Management from University of New England. Virginia’s research has been acknowledged via the Literati awards for “Most Outstanding Paper” in 2018 and “Highly Commended” in 2019 for peer reviewed manuscripts published in the Emerald Journal database. Virginia holds and Honorary Fellowship for her lecturing and other work with the University of Wollongong and is an Adjunct Fellow at Macquarie University. She is a Board Approved supervisor of general and clinical psychology interns and has personally supported 15 psychology graduates through to full registration.
